What a border adds to the parcel
A domestic shipment stays within Canada. An international submission also requires confirmation of the destination’s import and carrier requirements. Ask the receiving laboratory what documentation it needs before sending material.
Check these three points before booking:
- Timing: obtain a current carrier estimate for the accepted intake address.
- Requirements: confirm the destination and carrier accept the sample and identify required documentation.
- Handling: agree the packaging and any temperature-control requirements before shipping.
Temperature and time in transit
There is no universal safe shipping duration or temperature for every research peptide. The chemical form, formulation, container and handling history matter. Obtain instructions for the accepted sample before choosing ambient or temperature-controlled shipping. Read the storage and stability guide for what a single test can establish.
Record what is known about preparation and transit. A test describes the material analysed; it does not reconstruct the sample’s condition throughout its journey. If transport conditions are the subject of the investigation, discuss that question before arranging the testing.
The way to keep this honest, wherever you send a sample, is to make the transit leg as short as the logistics allow and to send dry material rather than solution whenever you have the choice.
The costs that are not the test price
Price lists compare badly across borders because they are not measuring the same thing. A per-sample figure abroad may sit alongside international shipping, currency conversion applied at the payment processor’s rate rather than the mid-market one, and, depending on how the parcel is classified, duties or a customs brokerage fee. None of that appears on the price list.
The number worth comparing is the total landed cost of having a result in hand: shipping both ways where relevant, conversion, any border charges, and the test itself. What a domestic submission does not fix
Apply the same technical checks to every laboratory. Confirm the accepted methods, relevant reference information, report format and the process for resolving questions about the result.
The questions that actually discriminate between laboratories are the same in every country:
- Are the method conditions published, or only the result? A purity number without a column, gradient, and detection wavelength is not reproducible and not defensible. Our method statements describe the information published for CPT testing.
- Are purity and content reported as two separate measurements? They answer different questions, and a laboratory that blurs them is not one to rely on for a label claim.
- Can the certificate be verified against the laboratory’s own records, by someone who was not the client? Ours can, at the public registry.

When each one makes sense
An overseas laboratory may have a method or established working relationship that suits the project. Confirm the required scope and shipping arrangements before making that choice.
A domestic submission may simplify shipping and payment for a Canadian client. Use current quotes and carrier estimates to compare the options. CPT accepts approved mail-in requests from across Canada; the intake details are provided after review.
Choosing where to test
Choose a laboratory whose accepted scope answers the question about your sample. Then confirm the practical details: quantity, packaging, transit, total cost, report delivery and how to ask follow-up questions.

Is an overseas peptide testing laboratory worse than a Canadian one?
Location alone does not determine laboratory quality. Analytical quality is a function of method, instrumentation, reference standards, and how honestly the result is reported, none of which is determined by geography. The differences a border introduces are logistical: transit time, customs discretion, currency, and how hard it is to resolve a problem afterwards.
Does shipping a peptide sample internationally damage it?
Suitability depends on the material, formulation, container and transit conditions. Obtain handling instructions for the specific sample before selecting a carrier; there is no universal safe transit duration or temperature for every peptide.
Will customs open a parcel containing a peptide sample?
They may. Cross-border parcels are subject to inspection and to the receiving country’s import rules, and a parcel can be opened, held, returned, or seized at the border agency’s discretion. A domestic parcel inside Canada crosses no border and is not subject to that process at all.
What is the real cost difference between domestic and overseas testing?
