How to verify a public peptide certificate.
Use the report number or QR code to open the laboratory record, then compare the sample details and results with your copy.
Forged and altered Certificates of Analysis are a known problem in this market; our guide to COA red flags covers what they tend to look like. The structural fix is not a more official-looking document. It is a document that anyone can check against the laboratory’s own records.
How it works
- Every released certificate carries a report number. Entering it at the public registry returns the certificate as this laboratory holds it, or no public match if the number is incorrect or the report is private.
- Printed and PDF certificates carry a QR code that resolves to the same registry entry, so the check works from a phone in the time it takes to scan.
- Only certificates released as public appear in the registry. Results kept private stay private. The registry verifies released certificates; it does not expose client data.
- There is a worked example certificate showing every field a real report carries, so you know what a complete one looks like before receiving your result.
What a verified certificate proves
One thing, precisely: that the document in front of you matches what this laboratory measured, for that sample, on that date, by the stated methods. If the registry copy and the copy you were given disagree (a purity percentage nudged upward, a compound name changed), the document you were given has been altered.
What it does not prove
Verification is not an endorsement. A genuine certificate for one vial establishes nothing about the vial next to it: a single sample is not a batch. It does not establish safety, sterility unless sterility-relevant testing was actually run, or that a vendor’s current stock matches what they sent for testing. Anyone presenting a verified COA as proof of those things is stretching it past what it says. The certificate states its own limits; verification just proves the certificate is real.
