Testing BPC-157: what the analysis has to get right

BPC-157 is the most tested peptide in the catalogue. The usual question is not whether it is pure, but whether the vial holds the milligrams on its label.

BPC-157 is a 15-residue synthetic peptide. Its formula is C62H98N16O22 and its average molecular mass is 1419.55 g/mol, small enough to separate and identify with a routine peptide method.

Its analysis is comparatively straightforward, which is why the interesting findings are usually about content and labelling rather than exotic impurities.

What makes BPC-157 hard to measure

Content versus purity

A BPC-157 vial can show high area purity and still contain less peptide than labelled. Only a content measurement answers the label question, and content is requested separately rather than run by default.

Identity

A short, well-behaved sequence gives clean reference-spectrum comparisons, so identity confirmation on BPC-157 is direct: FTIR-ATR, Raman, CE-UV and UV-Vis are selected as the molecule warrants.
